Reality is much more complicated than my imagination.
Character runs away. She goes to the station, gets on a bus or train, and goes.
For the heck of it, I checked out the schedule, just to compare fares, and find out if there actually was a train that could do it.
There was... but the train doesn't leave until the next morning, she'd have to spend the night in the station. The bus requires three transfers, New York, Richmond, Texas, and would take four days. Long, miserable ride. --But she can't spend the night in the train station, she'd get caught. She'll have to board the red-eye bus to New York, get over to Penn Station at 2AM and then hang out until 6am when the train leaves.
A little look at reality complicates the story, gives lots of fun stuff to happen.

Nibble nibble little publisher
So, one publisher is looking at the manuscript for The Fellowship of the Unloved.
Another is looking at the outline for Mischief's World.
Mischief's World is the title I've finally settled on for my space colony story. I think it's going to be a series! The initial volume--the story of the journey out, and the corporation that wants to break my free-spirited heroine, and the enigmatic broken man she seems to be falling for--might actually be approaching completion. I'm at the "read through the story again and see if it's holding together" phase.
Here's a link to my initial post on this story, only 3 years ago!
It's a solid tale. I don't want to jinx myself, but after 12 years of struggling, I may complete 2 novels in 12 months.
